Xda O2 Stealth

The Xda 02 is a chubby slider that has a nice big touch screen, runs on Windows 5.0 and offers Wi-Fi connectivity along with Bluetooth and a two-mega pixel camera. Though named “Stealth” this slider is not going anywhere unseen by measuring 110mm x 53mm x 22.5 mm and weighing a solid 140g.Its tri band phone has a 192MB Rom and a good 64 MB Ram. Though not heavy by smart phone standards, this one feels good in hand. The sliding mechanism is a bit clunky but still useful.

It has a cool 2.4-inch screen that displays 65k colors in QVGA resolution. The wireless manager potion in the main screen manages all the connections. It also has a pocket office, so you can view and edit Excel, Word and Outlook documents. Connection anywhere is not a problem for this phone as it has Infrared, Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Usb1.2 connectivity with PC. However, lack of 3g is unjustified as it is expected in a top-end product like this one's

The speed of the mobile causes no complaints and the Intel XScale PXA 272 416MHz processor takes all we throw at it with relative ease. However, there are small lags when running multiple applications but it is not of much concern as very few users multi task constantly.

Two software additions take this phone to many notches above its hardware specifications. The first is answering machine software that can play recorded message if the user does not attend a call after a pre-defined set time. The caller message will be stored in the phone itself as an audio file. Now this is an awesome feature as only carriers provide it for at ridiculously high cost while you get it for free permanently in this phone.

The second is the Media plus application. It is a single application that handles all media activities, like music player, viewing pictures, FM radio and video player. The buttons are at convenient places and you get a phenomenal TEN-band equalizer that you do not often see in mobiles.

Stealth also contains a two mega pixel camera, which is good enough to take occasional shots, and is surprisingly good in well-lit conditions. There is also support for extending memory via a mini-SD card.

The battery is a lithium polymer 1300 mAh rating that can support talk time of up to 5 hours and 150 hours of stand-by time, which is pretty decent. Being a cross between ultra sliders from Samsung and bricks from Black berry, this offers adequate functionality to all users.

Pros:

  1. Big clear screen
  2. Excellent answering machine software
  3. Superb music player
  4. Good camera

Cons:

  1. Slider spring action not good
  2. Stylus is hard to take out
  3. Finishing could be better

Verdict:
Weighing pros and cons, if one can get over the small user difficulties the functionality, speed and features of this phone would make it an excellent choice for all people.
