Regular present-tense Verb Conjugation

The Spanish language works by the conjugation of verbs in respect to the subject of the sentence. All verbs end with either the endings –ar, -er, or –ir. The following are conjugation rules for regular verbs in the present tense. To conjugate, remove the two letter ending and add the new ending in its place.

The tables are set up in this subject order:
Yo Nosotros
Tú Vosotros
Él/Ella Ellos/Ellas

Verbs ending in –AR
-o -amos
-as -áis
-a -an
Example: Hablar  Yo hablo; Tú hablas; Él habla; Nosotros hablamos; Vosotros habláis; Ellos hablan.

Verbs ending in –IR
-o -imos
-es -ís
-e -en
Example: Vivir  Yo vivo; Tú vives; Él vive; Nosotros vivimos; Vosotros vivís, Ellos viven.

Verbs ending in –ER
-o -emos
-es -éis
-e -en
Example: Comer  Yo como; Tú comes; Él come; Nosotros comemos; Vosotros coméis; Ellos comen.
