Administrative Support Article- 411 Words
Administrative SupportGeneral Job Description One of the interesting things about business evolution in the last half century is the addition of a level that is known as the administrative support level. Some people refer to it as middle management, whilst others call it administrative support. The main point behind these jobs are simply jobs that connect the lower levels of workers and laborers to the higher levels of people that own companies or run different sections of companies. These middle management types are largely in charge of assuring the smooth day to day running of things in each company and while they do not have a lot of theoretical power in the overall hierarchy of the business, at the same time they have a lot of clout with what they oversee. Specific Types There are many different administrative support jobs in the world today, but the ones that are most poignant are the lower middle management jobs. These are the jobs where people have direct contact with the lower levels of the business hierarchy. If the factory is what is being looked at, then the foreman might be an example of lower middle management. Aside from lower middle management, there is also upper middle management. In upper middle management jobs, the person is being tasked with overseeing more than just one shift. In other words, the person that the foreman reports to in the factory might be a person overseeing other factories as well. These are the nuanced levels of administrative support that most companies rely on nowadays to be successful. Skills Required The skills required for administrative support are very vast, but what they all come down to in the end is delegation. Your job as administrative support is not particularly to get involved in any of the work yourself (unless a problem crops up), but rather to go ahead and make sure that the tasks are appropriately delegated to the different people that are under your control. Good administrative support workers are people that can keep things running efficiently while at the same time making sure that the people underneath them are all working very well and have good morale in the process. Education Required There are many different types of education that you can get for the administrative support field, but usually an undergraduate and a graduate degree in some type of administrative program is what it’s going to take for you to be able to achieve your goal of joining the ranks of administrative support.
